Dear Minister Heyman and Premier Horgan,

I am writing to express my deep concern about zebra and quagga mussels and the threat they pose to BC. This is an issue of utmost concern for myself and my family.

I know we have an inspection program in place, but it is not enough. Unless you are stopping and inspecting every single boat that crosses our borders, you are not protecting our lakes and rivers.

So much is at stake - our economy, our environment, our fish and wildlife, our drinking water, our culture, our way of life. Zebra and quagga mussels MUST be kept out of our province.

I am asking for MANDATORY, PERMANENT INSPECTION STATIONS stopping EVERY boat coming into this province. Obviously, this must include 24-hour stations at all inter-provincial border crossings. Please make this happen immediately.

Brynne Morrice of Protect Our Freshwater has suggested 3 ways that you can raise more money to pay for those 24-hour stations. I support those ideas 100%.

Thank you for your swift attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
